Tejon Ranch Company

Work that endures
A respectful partnership
between land and people

Tejon Ranch Company is a fully diversified, integrated real estate company and agribusiness, whose principal asset is California’s historic Tejon Ranch, the largest single piece of private property in California. Intact and in business since 1843.

Our real estate developments include the Tejon Ranch Commerce Center, a 1,450-acre commercial/industrial center and The Outlets at Tejon, an upscale outlet retail center. We’re also developing several master-planned, mixed-use communities. Significant oil, gas and other mineral resources provide royalty revenue. We also provide outdoor experiences and location filming opportunities.

Our tradition of environmental stewardship has inspired the conservation of the vast majority of our 420 square miles. And overall, minimizing our carbon footprint through initiatives such as the use of solar energy and reclaimed water. Tejon Ranch Company holds to the highest corporate standards in all operations, with the core values of quality, environmental stewardship, and visionary innovation.

Corporate Philanthropy

From the beginning, Tejon Ranch and neighboring communities north and south have enjoyed a close relationship and shared history. Being a good neighbor and contributing to the community are part of the legacy that started with the generosity of Ranch founders, the Gen. Edward Fitzgerald Beale family. (Read more about our historic contributions.) Today, Tejon Ranch Company continues to uphold the proud traditions started by our early leaders. Through contributions large and small, we have touched the lives of many neighbors by supporting hundreds of local organizations and causes. Our employees also give generously of their time, volunteering to serve on boards of non-profit organizations, raising money for those in need, and helping with community events.

The Kern County Museum in Bakersfield is home to the Beale Clocktower (a gift from the family) and the Tejon Ranch Gallery. This new exhibit space currently displays historic images of the Ranch and other Kern County locations taken in the 1880s by noted western photographer Carleton Watkins.

The Tejon Ranch Plaza at California State University, Bakersfield acknowledges our long support and contribution to the expansion of the School of Business and Public Administration and related business and leadership facilities.

In 2008, we donated 500 acres of the beautiful White Wolf section of our land for the building of the Bakersfield National Cemetery. Named a National Shrine in 2014, this national veterans cemetery is “a place of honor for those who served with honor.”

To mark our 175th anniversary in 2018, we donated one of our most valuable artifacts — the original title deed to Rancho El Tejon — to the Autry National Center of the American West.
