Tom Brady certainly had a great night at Super Bowl LI but he wasn’t the only star of the show. Melissa McCarthy and Kia also had a big night with their Hero’s Journey ad. In this crazy journey, she gets flung from a boat by a whale, chopped from a giant tree, plummets through a crack in the ice caps, and rammed by a rhino as an eco-warrior (at Tejon Ranch) as she hilariously tries to save the world.
Big congrats to the Tejon Ranch Film Department for such a big win during the big game. For more info on how to film at Tejon, please contact us here.

Tejon Ranch was recently approached by Jeff Zwart, a commercial director and award-winning rally racer, to help with the filming of this promotion for an upcoming auction. The amazing Porsche (dubbed #LUFTAUTO) featured in the video will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Autumn Leaves Project, a charity dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research.
The #LUFTAUTO, an interpretation of a rally-style 911, was designed in form and function to be both a daily driver as well as a capable rally-racer. Tejon Ranch was a natural fit for a location to demonstrate the #LUFTAUTO and gladly donated the use of the ranch for the promo.
The auction will take place April 10, 2016 at 9 a.m. at Modernica in Los Angeles, just east of downtown at 2891 Saco Street, Vernon, CA 90058. For those interested in bidding on the car, pre-registration is required, directly with Veronica Perry in RM Sotheby’s Los Angeles Office. She can be contacted at vperry@rmsothebys.com or +1 310 559 4575.
For our car enthusiasts: In the Porsche vernacular, Luftgekühlt represents all the air-cooled cars in the manufacturer’s history, from the Pre-A 356 through the 993 model line, which ended in 1998. More specifically, Luftgekühlt is the brainchild of two-time Le Mans class winner Patrick Long and noted Southern California creative director Howie Idelson. It is a true Porsche happening.
The #LUFTAUTO is a natural extension of Luftgekühlt co-founders Patrick Long and Howie Idelson’s vision: a custom-built, rally-inspired 911 featuring creative details from some of the foremost brands, builders and automotive artists in the industry today, including Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports, Joey Seely, owner of E-Motion Engineering, and Deus Ex Machina’s Carby Tuckwell.
