The wildflowers are in bloom on Tejon Ranch. At this time, we don't have any plans to conduct wildflower tours on the Ranch, however, there are a number of locations on public roads and property where you can see the wildflowers in bloom. These locations include:

  • A 20-mile stretch of Highway 138, from Interstate 5 east to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Preserve.
  • The Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area, located at Tejon Pass, and Fort Tejon State Historic Park, at the Fort Tejon exit of Interstate 5 in Lebec, are good viewing areas for wildflowers blooming on the Grapevine.
  • Highways 58 and 223, about ten miles east of Bakersfield, are also good viewing spots.

For the latest information on wildflower conditions in and around the Tejon Ranch area, please call the Kern County Wildflower Hotline at (661) 322-WILD or the Southern California Wildflower Hotline at (818) 768-3533. Remember, wildflower displays are subject to weather and climatic conditions, including the amount of rainfall, wind and sun, and can change without notice.
