Vice President, Community Development & Resource Planning

Derek C. Abbott is Vice President of Community Development & Resource Planning for Tejon Ranch Company, and is responsible for pursuing entitlements for various community development projects and implementing the Tejon Ranch Conservation and Land Use Agreement. Abbott joined Tejon Ranch in December 2004 and has represented the Company’s interests in a number of development and conservation initiatives, including Tejon Mountain Village, the Tejon Ranch Commerce Center, Centennial, and the Tejon Ranch Conservation and Land Use Agreement—which included the sale of conservation easements over 62,000 acres of Ranch lands.

Abbott earned a BS in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and completed an MBA at California State University, Bakersfield in 2010. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and has completed its Professional Development Certificate and Leadership for Planned Communities programs, is also active with the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, and is a graduate of Kern Leaders Academy.
